The studio has already adopted MG-Picker Studio v1 for a while and has some pickers designed in v1.

What is the risk of upgrading to v2?

In short, MG-Picker Studio v2 can load the v1 files with no problem, and v1 can partially load the v2 file, with some data missing or misrepresented.

Because in v2 some new flags and item types are introduced, these are not supported in v1.

There might be a slight behavior change when you load the v1 file in the v2 program like some shapes are now clipped.

But generally, you shall expect the same behavior, but better performance.

Once you load the v1 file in the v2 program and actually save the edit, if you load it in the v1 program, you get a version warning dialog.

V2 has been tested in some studios, but I would suggest you do a round of testing of v2 before upgrading to v2.
